What will the apprentice be doing?

The applicant will learn all aspects of bespoke joinery including:

  • Machining
  • Assembly
  • Site installation including setting out
  • Reading drawings with an involvement in glass
  • Ironmongery and finishes

You will work closely with our production manager and the other joiners in the team to develop your skills further.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Delivery model:

  • Work-based training with your employer
  • Day release during term time (approximately 1 day per week for 18 months)
  • Approximately 5 on-site assessment visits per year
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (7 days at college for each, if required)
  • Off the job training will count for at least 20% of an apprentice’s time at work

Qualifications included:

  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths

End Point Assessment:

  • Multiple choice knowledge test
  • Practical test
  • Professional discussion based on a portfolio of evidence

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £4.81 per hour from April 2022 but many employers pay more than this. This applies to 16 - 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. Starting rate of £6.00 per hour, 25 days paid holiday plus paid Bank Holidays. Pension scheme available.
