What will the apprentice be doing?

The role is to produce detailed solutions to achieve the optimum performance of built environment projects via digital models and presentations using software, sketches and electronic visualisations. 

  • To learn and develop Digital skills that will lead to being able to support a project team in the delivery of a Project Digital Execution Plan
  • Creating files and ensuring the appropriate file attributes are captured correctly
  • Producing and /or amending information in accordance with the Project SMP
  • Ensuring graphical models (they produce) escalating any interfaces issues to the Interface Manager
  • Ensuring all element of the Information Model are fully coordinated with each other

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will follow a three year day-release training programme as part of our Digital Engineering programme, geared towards you achieving Technican status through BTEC Level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment. Depending on project requirements, you will be site or office based.

The following qualifications will be gained:

  • BTEC Level 3 construction and the built environment equivalent to A-levels
  • NVQ level 3 diploma in built environment design
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will be given a career path on joining that will take you through the different roles and experiences you should gain through the apprenticeship. You will start as an Project Delivery Apprentice and as part of the Apprenticeship scheme you will be supported with gaining a Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at Level 3. We will look to explore further opportunities within Balfour Beatty and further development of you and your career.
