What will the apprentice be doing?

As an Electrical Engineering Apprentice you will be supporting the manufacturing of printed circuit board assembly. You will move round the company every 6 months, working in various areas of the business. You will be soldering, and preparing components, testing and much more. The successful apprentice will be following assembly instructions and solder components to PCBA’s using a soldering iron, form components to required pitches (sizes) as per assembly instructions. You will be testing PCBA’s to ensure functionality and use specialised machines to add solder paste and then components to PCBA’s. You will help create assembly instructions from customer data and build kits ready for production from a list generated by engineers. You will use controlled tooling to fit hardware/adhesives to PCBA’s and inspect components/hardware to ensure quality is reached before they are used in production.   • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Functional Skills if required

Things to consider

The employer will offer the successful apprentice: Sponsorship for further education e.g. HNC or HND plus 6 monthly pay reviews. There are 2 onsite canteens to enjoy. Also a 12.30pm finish on a Friday. 25 days holiday leave and Christmas shutdown. Bonus Scheme and also Life Assurance Scheme. .
