What will the apprentice be doing?
- As an apprentice you will gather the knowledge and skills working on all marine crafts
- As an engineer you will be involved in tasks in the boat yard working on engines, parts and systems
- You will be part of a team that works towards building top quality products
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Marine Engineer apprenticeship standard:
- City & Guilds 2473 Level 2 & 3 in Marine Engineering including Business Improvement techniques (BIT)
- RYA Powerboat Level 2
- Various Berthon courses such as Health & Safety, fixed machinery, manufacturers’ technical training
- LEAN manufacturing as applicable
- Student membership of IMarEST (the marine industry professional body)
- On successful completion of End Point Assessment apprentices are Eng.Tech ready
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Successful completion of the Apprenticeship programme including successful outcome on the End Point Assessment.
