What will the apprentice be doing?

Apprentices will carry out some of the following duties when starting their hair professional apprenticeship:

  • Shampooing and treatments
  • Blow drying
  • Assisting other staff members
  • Front of House support
  • General salon duties

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your hair professional qualification will be awarded by VTCT and is a nationally recognised qualification. You will receive the following during your apprenticeship:
·         Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

·         Functional Skills in maths, English, and IT Skills at Level 1 or 2 (as required)

·         Francesco Group Business Enterprise Project.
All hair apprenticeship training is conducted work-based in a reputable commercial salon, working as part of the salon team, and supported by dedicated training sessions at one of Francesco Group’s Academies located in either Stafford or Birmingham.

Hair Professional Course Content:


• Client care and consultation
• Team working
• Shampooing, conditioning, and treating the hair
• Ladies cutting
• Hair colouring
• Styling the hair

 

Plus, one of the following optional units:
• Perming Hair
• Relaxing Hair
• Hair extensions

You will be required to attend one of our state of the art academies in Birmingham or Stafford once a week. Our academies reflect the most up-to-date salons and have lecture rooms with interactive presentation equipment and training resources to support you. We have laptops and internet access for independent learning and 1-1 support sessions to help you every step of the way. You will also have progress reviews every ten weeks carried out at your salon, with your employer and a representative from the academy.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Progression onto the Advanced Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship.
  • Progression into speciality areas such as barbering or colour expert.
  • Assessors Award qualification.

Michelle Lawley is recognised as one of the countries top Hair Colourists. Her award winning skills took her to the finals of the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards, being nominated for British Colourist of the Year two years in a row. She was runner up in The L’Oreal Colour Trophy and has been a finalist in The Clothes Show’s Hairdresser of the Year competition. Following her competition success, Michelle went on to judge the ‘Young Colourist’ category of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy along with other top names in the hairdressing industry.
