This is an admin role, but the right person will be interested in the technical awareness that is needed to work in this sector. Role will include quotations, purchase orders, data entry.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Key tasks:


  • Contacting suppliers for quotation or use their online portals.
  • Quote at an appropriate margin and provide lead time.
  • Renewal quotations for Software and Hardware – (See Section 5 Renewals)


  • Create purchase order on Sage with customer address and providing supplier quote ref or bid ref.
  • Providing supplier with purchase order form and any additional information required.
  • Chase orders from back order report.
  • Contacting supplier and online searching for stock on backorders.
  • Contact customer and supplier to confirm delivery date.
  • Sage50:
  • Creating part numbers to add products to the system, making sure the product is in the correct categories and nominal codes.
  • Check pricing is correct before quotation and purchasing

Customer Services:

  • Arrange return merchandise authorisations, collections for incorrect  faulty products.
    Providing return merchandise authorisations details to customer.
  • Check the goods have been collected.
  • Chase up return merchandise authorisations with suppliers if credit note is not received.
  • Logistics:
  • Arrange collections from office and customer sites.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Full training will be given leading to a recognised Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard qualification, level 3.

Full on-the-job training will be delivered.

Off-the-job training will be supported by our Training Provider – Davidson Training UK Ltd.

You will also complete the Functional Skills in maths and English up to and including Level 2 (if you already do not hold the equivalent).

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Full-time position to move forward with the company.
