What will the apprentice be doing?
The Horticulture and Landscape Operative Apprentice would be expected to learn and implement skills and duties including:
- Planning work within the team.
- Adhering to health and safety/ Risk Assessments.
- Adapting to seasonal changes within the gardens.
- Using PPE where necessary and understanding why.
- Listening to and carrying out instructions.
- Weeding, planting, grass and hedge cutting, etc.
- Use of appropriate equipment and training on all tools used.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Horticulture or landscape construction operative Level 2 (GCSE).
Day release to Kirkley Hall Campus is required.
Mandatory qualifications:
- (Core) Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (Ofqual registered) minimum 1-day course
- (Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides OR City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides
- (Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide Using Hand Held Equipment OR City & Guilds Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment
