What will the apprentice be doing?

Reporting to the workshop manager

Main Duties;

  • Carrying out machine shop training inclusive of CNC and manual turning, milling, grinding and drilling
  • General bench work using hand tools such as spanners, allen keys, files, hammers etc.
  • Carrying out inspection of parts and ensuring a high standard of work is maintained
  • Cleaning and maintaining a tidy work area
  • Assisting fitting shop when necessary and spraying pumps

Engineering Technician - Level 3 Apprentice Standard

Mandatory Qualifications

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017

Includes End Point Assessment

1 day per week at Olive Grove Campus Engineering Centre in term time.
