What will the apprentice be doing?

• You will be required to work both individually and as part of a team to carry out a range of engineering operations.
• This will involve the use of hand tools and machinery for the processing of sheet metal and the assembly of parts into finished components.
• This will involve sheet metal cutting and forming, the use of various joining techniques including a range of welding processes.
• You will be required to following drawings and manufacturing plans/procedures, working to high levels of quality.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualifications included:

  • Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard. Company Training Plan & Assessment.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge (1 day per week for 2 years at college). Development Competence Qualification (workplace).
  • Level 2 Functional Skills - maths (If required).
  • Level 2 Functional Skills - English (If required).
  • End Point Assessment at the end of the apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will be monitored and mentored by a highly skilled engineering technician with the vision of you becoming highly skilled in this field of work. Your training will however embrace the full spectrum of Zircotec’s design, engineering and manufacturing activities to ensure a good grounding in mechanical manufacturing and engineering enabling you to become our next generation of Engineers, Trainers.
