What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
  • Maintain the computerised appointment system and monitor the flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms
  • Action requests for repeat prescriptions on the clinical computer system according to the prescribing protocol and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours
  • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
  • Process electronic consultations on a daily basis to the GP
  • Using your own judgement and communication skills to ensure those patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
  • Record all requests for home visits onto the clinical system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to the doctor on duty

Work towards your Business Administration Apprenticeship with a 12-week 1x day per week block release at our Warrington or Winsford Campus. 

Functional skills in maths and English (if required).

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Full-time position may be offered to the right candidate if an opportunity arises. Further opportunities in the company may also be available.
