What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To follow academy routines and processes as directed
  • To provide appropriate academic support to students
  • To work as a member of the learning support team
  • To provide first aid support within the Academy
  • To supervise students at lunch time
  • To support students with medical conditions
  • To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school and Trust
  • To carry out all duties in the most effective, efficient and economic manner
  • To cover lessons or interventions as directed by the SENCO
  • Ensure that all communications with parents demonstrate the values of the academy and the LEAD Academy Trust
  • Attend all meetings and functions necessary to support the work in this job description, ensuring that the values of the academy and the LEAD Academy trust are exemplified in attitude, language and behaviour

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group. As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprentice could be a pathway to becoming a Teaching Assistant or a qualified teacher.

Things to consider

This apprenticeship will involve working in multiple locations within the academy. Moving from class to class and being on duty at break and lunch in different places.
