What will the apprentice be doing?
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and learning
- Develop an efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to increase achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Assist with the development and implementation of EHCP/IEPs/behaviour plans with class teachers.
- Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
- Develop the use of effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures
- Participate in a team to learn and develop effective behaviour management strategies
- Organise and manage learning spaces and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment, thinking about all groups of learners
- Assist with pupil performance and pass observations on to the class teacher
- Support with class activities if the teacher is unavailable occasionally e.g. story reading
- Use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning
- Develop specialist skills/ knowledge/ training
- To participate in the assessment of pupils who need extra help to overcome the barriers to learning
- Undertake any other relevant duties given by the class teacher

- 4 Additional day courses with HOET
