What will the apprentice be doing?
Main duties:
- Learn how to set and operate CNC machines safety
- Learn how to program using CAD/CAM software
- Learn how to correctly measure and inspect the parts made to specifications supplied
- Identifying materials and their attributes
- Identifying cutting tools and understanding how they are used and why
- Learn about health and safety risks within the workplace
- To undertake CNC and engineering tasks allocated by the team leader, which are deemed by them to be within your capabilities
- To attend West Suffolk College to undertake the apprenticeship qualifications mandated within the standard
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The learner will be studying the Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
- Day release to West Suffolk College
- Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held
All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum:
- An employer approved Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification
- An employer approved Level 3 Development Competence qualification
- An employer approved Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
They are looking for apprentices who are passionate about wanting to become a fully skilled CNC programmer/setter once the basic training has been completed. They will support successful apprentices with further qualifications up to degree level.
