What will the apprentice be doing?
Working within our image and resection capital, service, and repair team, you will be expected to work in all areas of the team. Including assembly of synergy systems, function and electrical safety testing of all medical devices internally and externally, installation of synergy systems, updating and upgrading of software and firmware, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, management of the exchange and repair of equipment in line with current procedures.
Role & responsibilities:
- Administrative tasks associated with all of the above in order to maintain servicing records and stock integrity. The maintenance and calibration of devices, tools, and test equipment must be adhered to upholding current health and safety regulations both in the human and veterinary health sectors
- Build, test and commission arthrex synergy system in preparation for sale, demonstration or loan into either a public or private healthcare setting
- Check and test any returned arthrex synergy system for loan or demonstration ensuring all steps are followed to ensure kit is ready for its next customer
- Testing of equipment in line with standards and document any non conformance in line with Arthrex SOP's
- You will be part of the Operations Team consisting of 35 employees from a number of disciplines - your immediate team will be the service team consisting of one Manager, one build engineer and three field service engineers working out of a 45.000 square feet warehouse build in 2020
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
Plus one of the following:
- Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technology (QCF) – for starts up to June 2017 only
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (QCF) - for starts up to June 2017 only
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – for all starts from 1st July 2017
You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
