What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties may include:

  • As an Apprentice Network Cable Installer Engineer, you will learn how to deploy both copper and fibre cabling solutions, including the installation, termination and testing
  • You will be taught not only the fundamental differences between Category 5e through to Category 6A and multi-mode and single-mode fibres but also the way that such cabling is installed, terminated and tested
  • You will be guided throughout this apprenticeship by experienced data cabling installers
  • You will be working with a broad range of hand and power tools, abiding by health and safety legislation is a large part of this role
  • There may be requirements to work evenings and sometimes, away from home, where this is required overtime and stopover allowance is paid

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will work towards a Level 3 Network Cable Installer Apprenticeship delivered by VQ Solutions. 

During this apprenticeship, you will develop a portfolio, attend block courses and have regular reviews. All apprenticeship work will be completed during working hours.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The majority of our apprentices are offered full-time employment upon the successful completion of their apprenticeship.
