What will the apprentice be doing?
The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with experienced engineers in the development of new methods to test different wireless technologies; and execute RF (radio frequency) measurements using test instruments such as signal generators and spectrum analysers
- Learn how to perform detailed analysis of results using software tools such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, etc; this will allow you to develop software coding and visualisation skills
- Occasionally participate in field measurements further across the country, working closely with colleagues in Assurance and Compliance roles
- Build a strong base of technical knowledge and progressively take on more complex projects
- Engage in short term secondments to other Engineering related areas of the organisation; these include Spectrum Authorisation, Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) and Licensing
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will undertake a fully funded four-year, Level 6 Engineering Apprenticeship at Warwick University in addition to your on-the-job work commitments, as part of the apprenticeship studies you will attend regular block releases at Warwick, with Ofcom providing travel and local accommodation.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship we will support your application to a permanent role at Ofcom.
