What will the apprentice be doing?
- Once initial training has been completed at SETA, the apprentice attends Marden Edwards Limited with day release to SETA once a week
- Working on various pieces of machinery in the Manufacturing Division (machine shop)
- Machinery currently used by apprentices includes manual lathes and mills
- Using CNC lathes and mills, cut off saws and deburring tools.
- Using course skills learnt and with additional training in-house to become skilled engineers
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Apprentices will undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard programme as a Machining Technician. This will include a full-time period of practical workshop based ‘off-the-job’ training at SETA
- You will also begin a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) where you will be required to attend SETA one day a week over two academic years. After initial training at SETA, you will be with your employer working on developing your skills for your End Point Assessment
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- We encourage qualified apprentices to continue to develop their skillset in the role in which they are employed. Apprentices have progressed to become managers or design engineers
- Further progress is not guaranteed as this is dependent on succession planning, but we are always keen to encourage development within Marden Edwards Limited
