What will the apprentice be doing?

The day-to-day duties will involve:

  • Sawing up raw materials
  • Milling
  • Blocking upside and face of materials
  • Setting and fault finding
  • Using micrometers and vernier calipers to check and approve parts after processing
  • Stamping and identification of parts
  • General housekeeping duties

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This is a level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship, delivered over a period of 15 months. The qualification is Level 2 Diploma in engineering operations (skills), Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in engineering operations (knowledge) and Functional Skills if required.

The apprentice will be required to attend In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, one day per week for the duration of the apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Full-time position after completion of apprenticeship, with potential advancement to level 3 machinist.
