What will the apprentice be doing?

We’re looking for a driven individual who wants to kick-start their career as a product design and development technician within engineering.

  • Contribute to the business by support activities from early concept to final prep for the customer
  • Working on rapid prototype, 3D printing, assembly, testing and validating performance
  • Ensure you adhere to health & safety policies and procedures
  • Working to given time scales
  • Work alongside skilled engineers who will bring new concepts to life and provide you with the knowledge needed to become fully trained
  • You will also be expected to respond quickly to changing demands throughout your working day

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Product Design and Development Technician standard. On completion the apprentice will receive:

  • Level 3 Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering qualification
  • Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required depending on current level

Cronite continuously develops New range of alloys and Products to meet new customer’s expectations in the changing environment.

To support these activities, we reinvest over 4% of our turnover in Research & Development.

Our sites make use of CAD/CAM software, interconnected throughout our plants, tensile-strength calculation modules and creep testing machines (with quenching), and implement custom-designed joint research and testing protocols in collaboration with our customers.

We combine the FEA methodology, used at Cronite for almost 20 years, with the most recent Topology optimization approach.

With our prototyping equipment, 3D validation of new designs becomes both rapid and simple.
