What will the apprentice be doing?
MACHINING (LEVEL 3):
- Learning how to set, program and operate a range of CNC machine tools to produce machine tool components
- Learn to use the machines include Lathes, Milling, Grinding, Multi-Tasking, 5 axis machines and Component Inspection
- Invaluble learning from experienced staff to enhance your skillset
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY:
- Assemble and test machine tools and their components
- Assembling and testing unit assemblies into the completed machine tool
- Learn to use various hand skills and laser checking equipment
ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3):
- Wire and test machine tools and their components
- Working on individual option looms that will be used in the final production of our machine tools
- Progress to wiring and testing a range of CNC machines, to include PLCs, ladder diagrams and fault finding prior to machines going to our customers
SHEET METAL:
- Learning the full application of welding
- Laser cutting and metal folding to produce machine tool claddings
- An apprentice in this area will learn the full skills and operations of a modern sheet metal producing department
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Year 1: To be based in the Worcester Group Training centre, one day in the classroom working through a Development Knowledge qualification. Four days in the workshop working through practical units that will result in the completion of a Foundation Competance qualification.
Year 2: Four days per week in company, one day at the centre to continue the Development Knowledge. Within Mazak you will work in rotation of the company to understand how the company works.
Year 3 - 4 :Fulltime in company - Working in your choose dicipline, in addition to working through a Development Competence qualification, as well as getting ready for your End Point Assessment.
