What will the apprentice be doing?

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating modern CNC machine centres
  • Understanding and interpreting technical drawings
  • Creating CNC programs using the latest CAD software
  • Making changes to existing CNC programs to meet drawing requirements
  • Using precision measurement systems

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Engineering Technician level 3 Apprenticeship, Mechanical Manufacturing pathway
  • You will attend college at our Leek Campus weekly, college transport is available, and spend time in our dedicated engineering workshop which includes CAM/CAD suites and 3D printers alongside traditional engineering machines such as lathes. You will also receive training and support in the workplace and build a portfolio of evidence against the skills, knowledge and behaviour as set out in the apprenticeship standard
  • Alongside college attendance you will be regularly visited in the workplace by your college instructor-mentor, they will complete workplace observations, and professional discussions and give you constructive feedback
