What will the apprentice be doing?

This role with give you the opportunity to work for a market leading company, whilst gaining valuable skills and experience to ensure you develop to your full potential throughout the apprenticeship.

Your responsibilities as an Apprentice Pipefitter:

As an Apprentice Pipefitter you would work within a team on our projects to assist with the manufacture, installation and testing of high integrity mechanical systems in buildings or industrial plants.

The Pipefitter role encompasses the positioning, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, repair and decommissioning of piping systems within Engineering Construction.

You will initially be based in Sellafield but may have opportunities to travel and support our projects across the UK.

Who we’re looking for:

  • 3 GCSEs Grade 4/C or above including maths and English or a Level 2 BTEC in Engineering
  • Good communication skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Have the ambition and motivation to work within the engineering and construction industry 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Balfour Beatty offers a comprehensive training programme in Engineering Construction Pipefitting with the opportunity of completing industry recognised vocational qualifications.

As part of the Apprenticeship scheme you will be supported with gaining an NVQ level 3 in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems (RQF) - Pipefitting. You will also have various other training opportunities. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After completing the Advanced Apprenticeship you would be given full support to develop into a qualified Mechanical Engineer or may have the option to be supported towards a management role via a degree and professional status.
