What will the apprentice be doing?

While working for South West Coaches you will be working as a Level 3 Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technician and undertake your apprenticeship training with Paragon Skills. You will be continuously developing your knowledge and skills while learning all aspects of HGV and commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
Your apprenticeship training will be split between a combination of workplace and academy learning on block release. Every six weeks you will attend Paragon Skills Automotive Academy (five weeks at work – 1 week at academy) where you will work towards completing your apprenticeship modules and demonstrate your practical abilities and competencies in our multi-functioning workshops.
As a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice, your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to;

Assisting other technicians with vehicle maintenance, repairs and servicing

Paragon Skills is a leading national Apprenticeship training provider, supporting over 4,000 learners and 1,500 organisations. This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study. On completion of this 36-month apprenticeship you will have gained: Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Heavy) apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?


Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, we will look to offer further training and development qualifications.
South West Coaches will also look to put the successful candidate through their PCV license after year 2 of the apprenticeship.
