What will the apprentice be doing?

You’ll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor.

Working alongside our vehicle technician teams, you will learn how to work with all systems found in vehicles, ranging from repairing challenging, complex technologies to simpler machinery.

As a technician will work on all the systems found within the vehicle, the day-to-day work ranges from replacing simple parts through to solving complex faults with the use of diagnostic methods and equipment.

The tasks faced are constantly changing, driven by the introduction of ever more complex technologies and diagnostic techniques.

What you will learn:

  • How to carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV
  • How to contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes
  • Use a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HV’s
  • How to follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Within our vehicle technician team you will complete the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard allowing you to develop the skills & experience required to become an expert within our vehicle technician  team.

You’ll combine on-the-job learning with formal, nationally recognised development training.

A Personal Development Plan will help drive your career progression, set, agreed & regularly reviewed with your line manager.
