What will the apprentice be doing?

As a quality engineering apprentice, you will be working towards being competent in the following areas:

  • Collaborate with customers, both internal and external, to resolve any quality related issues
  • Support in the development and monitoring quality control plans
  • Review client specifications and liaise with the Quality Department
  • Support and chair meetings relevant to position
  • Communicate with internal departments to ensure that projects are delivered on time

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Engineering Technician - Technical Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Year 1 - 5 Days a week at Appris Training Centre, Bradford, studying: 
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence - Mechanical)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge - Mechanical)

Year 2 to Year 4 - Workplace learning: 

  • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence - Technical Support Technician)
  • Internal training, development and mentoring with highly skilled engineers in a variety of project and support based areas and other engineering related duties and requirements. This will meet the Knowledge, Skills and Beahaviours required for the apprenticeship
    In your 4th Year, you will continue to work towards your occupational competency in engineering and prepare for independent end-point assessments
