What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Working across all internal departments – Accounts-Quality-Engineering-Factory-Stores, ensuring accurate sharing of information.
  • Liaising with suppliers / helping to progress purchase orders
  • Ensuring Quality standards are achieved and documented
  • Keeping project information accurate and up to date such as progress/status reports, supplier deliveries and customer invoices.
  • Working as part of project teams

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX).

You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.

Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and well-being, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 qualification.

Apprentices will be required to take one of the professional qualifications listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role: 

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2).
IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping.
ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in spring of each year.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A permanent full-time position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
