What will the apprentice be doing?
This is an exciting and varied role for anybody looking to kickstart their IT career. Working across the whole on the IT estate, there is the opportunity to be a fundamental and pivotal part of the IT projects as they are rolled out and also offer IT support alongside the IT manager.
The role offers both hardware and software support exposure, meaning the successful apprentice will develop the core principle skills for both disciplines in IT and Infrastructure.
The role can be demanding and no two days are same, but you will be fully supported by the experienced IT manager you work alongside and also the expert trainers and skills coaches from the apprenticeship provider.
Some of the IT Support activities daily will be, but not limited to:
- First line support
- Answering telephone & e-mail queries
- Helping with day to day running of IT systems
- Support the various departments across the group of businesses with all IT aspects
- Ad hoc projects reporting to the Group IT Manager

Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
Core Modules:
The apprenticeship contains the following three core key modules which seek to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be a successful Information Communications Technician.
The final module is a Pathway module to provide specialist career track skills and knowledge depending on which track was chosen at the outset from the 3 options available.
- Computer Fundamentals & Security Gain an understanding of the core concepts in computing including hardware, software, security and troubleshooting
- Introduction to Networking & Cloud Services An introduction to the fundamental cloud concepts of networking and cloud computing, including networking modules, devices and protocols
- Communication in Support Support in IT requires good communications skills. Develop your communications skills by exploring the best practices of support
