What will the apprentice be doing?
- Inspection test and repair
- Oil Change
- Maintenace
- Standard mechanical repairs such as break pads
- Learning repair techniques under the supervision of the manager
- Writing labor, time and parts cost estimates
- Testing vehicles before and after repair
- Maintaining the workshop and customer areas are claen and well organised
- Carry out all necessary coursework and complete the apprticeship training standard
- Take an active part in upholding the companys health and saftey policies
- Ensure vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customer or that faults have been reported and noted on job cards
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Upon successful completion you will you will gain the Autocare Technician Level 2 standard this will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours
- Function Skills level 1 in maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade 3-1) unless excempt
Progression and professional recognition:
- On completion of this Standard the Auto-care Technician will be eligible to apply for IMI membership as a Registered Young Professional or if they wish as an Associate Member. They would also gain entry onto the IMI
- East Sussex College will provide the apprenticeship training and students will attend college one day week for the duration of the appreticeship at our Motor Vehicle center in Hastings
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Progression onto the level 3 Motor Service & Maintenance Technician after successfuly completing the L2 Autocare Apprenticeship
