What will the apprentice be doing?

You will gain knowledge and experience fitting insulation and finishes on a variety of construction sites.

The apprenticeship standard training programme will take on average 18-months to complete and comprises of both on the job training and mentoring, whilst at work, and a formal apprentice training programme at the National Training Centre which you will attend on a block release basis. The National Training Centre for the apprenticeship is located in Darlington, in the North East of England.

Duties when at work will include:

  • Fit insulation and pre-formed metal cladding or other finishing materials to project specification
  • Carry out work conforming to all current and relevant regulations, quality standards and work instructions
  • Use the appropriate tools and equipment for operational activities
  • Communicate and work with supervisors and co-workers to complete activities

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will have practical bench skills training and classroom sessions at the National Training Centre in Darlington in addition to on-the-job training and mentoring whilst at work.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The candidate must expect to work and stay away from home for periods of time, and understand that will be early starts on site.
