What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be doing a mix of theory and practical work to build skills as a vehicle technician in the accident repair sector. As a Paint Technician you will understand the general principles of spray-painting technology, paint composition, paint mixing and various methods of paint spraying vehicles. You will learn how to prepare the vehicles before painting, including masking, sanding and other necessary preparation work.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The training takes place at Thatcham Training Academy, which is recognised as one of the UK’s most highly regarded training centres for accident repair. The training at the training centre will be block release. On successful completion of the Final End Point Assessment you achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Paint.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Various progression routes available through the business & industry, initially a fully qualified technician, could then move onto Vehicle Damage Assessor with additional training, Workshop Controller, Site Manager etc.
