What will the apprentice be doing?

  • As our Apprentice Chef you'll be working alongside our busy team helping to prepare, cook and present our fresh food dishes on The Red Carpet Menu
  • Working with our Head Chef and Sous Chef with their passionate, excellent (good fun) team, you can learn so much
  • Learning to prepare, cook and present fresh food dishes to a consistently high standard, with a desire to progress in your career
  • Ensuring you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety

You will be working a 40 hour per week which includes at least 6 hours per week at Burton College, paid for by us.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship standard
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

Things to consider

If you’re working an 8 hour shift, you will have a one hour lunchbreak in a small staff room and a free lunch is provided. We also pay tips at an average of 50p per hour and two free cinema tickets per month.

The Red Carpet Cinema and Café Bar is an independent two screen cinema with an attached café bar serving breakfast, homemade cake, lunch, evening meal and Sunday roasts. All fresh food made from scratch by our friendly, talented kitchen team.
