What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be a crucial member of the fastest growing sector within Mace, working closely with members of the cost consultancy and project management teams.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Support in the preparation and submission of tender documents
- Assisting in the preparation and administration of contracts
- Supporting the preparation of schedules of works
- Supporting the delivery of building surveying services including condition and building surveys, party wall, defect analysis and dilapidation matters
- Monitoring project progress and updating relevant parties
- Supporting in the production of cost assessments
- Monitoring health and safety on projects
- Attending client meetings
Your work base will be flexible and could be in one of Mace offices or at a client’s office or facility. You will gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation.

The Building Surveying Assistant apprenticeship will work towards the Chartered Surveyor L6 which consists of work-based experience and training.
Apprentices will be required to complete a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BSc/BSc(Honours) or (where the apprentice already holds a Level 6 degree and subject to an assessment of prior learning) an RICS accredited Post Graduate Diploma or MSc that states it is linked to this apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
We’ll also support you in gaining professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
