What will the apprentice be doing?
As a key member of the work winning team, the bid apprentice assists in delivering smart, compelling, consistent, customer-focused, error-free documents and presentations. They’ll support the team’s day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of the bid process is of a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the management of the process
- Bid co-ordination - defining deliverables, deadlines, and owners
- Bid planning - owning the bid programme, highlighting interdependencies, and taking the lead in monitoring and reporting on progress
- Internal progress meetings - supporting with bid kick-off, booking regular progress meetings, setting the agenda, and supporting the meetings
- External meetings - supporting the bid team through mid-bid, site, and progress meetings
- Writing compelling, factual, focused CVs, case studies and responses
Submit the bid:
- Ensuring all required reviews and signoffs are achieved in line with Mace Way
- Ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and deliver a bid to deadline
Post-tender presentations:
- Producing and designing presentation slides
- Produce leave-behind documentation if required
- Organising rehearsals and practice sessions
Continuous improvement:
- Capturing all new content within the bid content library (aftercare)
- Recording and sharing lessons learnt and best practice
Your work base will be flexible and could be in one of Mace offices or at a client’s office or facility. You will gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation.

The Bidding Assistant apprenticeship will work towards the Bid and Proposal Co-Ordinator L3 which consists of work-based experience and training.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
We’ll also support you in gaining professional membership of the Association of Bid and Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).
