Apprentice Sheet Metal Operative HEWINES ENGINEERING LTD
Working within our sheet metal department to become competent at setting and operating our 2 Amada laser cutters and 3 brake presses, cutting and bending a range of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 1.30pm on Fridays.

What will the apprentice be doing?
General day to day tasks will include:
- Start up of lasers and brake presses
- Handling sheet metal, operating, loading and unloading of lasers
- Deburring sheet metal, as required
- Setting and operating brake presses
- General housekeeping of the sheet metal section
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
This is a Lean Manufacturing Level 2 apprenticeship, delivered over a period of 12 months. You will be required to attend one week's induction at the training provider (In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, Walsall, WS9 8UG) and the rest of the training will be assessor visits to you at the company site. Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Initially to become a competent laser and brake press setter operator.
We do have opportunities to move into programming and design.
