What will the apprentice be doing?
MPM drives the business by uniting cross-functional teams throughout the end-to-end process to ensure the most sustainable manufacturing solution for all vehicle and unit programmes. At every stage, we satisfy our customers by delivering products that are ready to meet cost, quality and time targets.
Some of our Advanced Apprentices in MPM will be based in Pilot Operations in Castle Bromwich or Ryton. Working in either our Trim & Final or Body in White (BIW) Pilot Operations facilities, you will operate alongside a highly skilled and motivated team.
In our Trim & Final facility, you will learn all aspects of Jaguar Land Rover products, spanning BIW, Trim, Chassis, Powertrain and electrical. In our BIW facility you will either specialise in sheet metal works or learn all aspects of the vehicle body construction process and the equipment we use to put everything together.
Alternatively, you could be based in our Field Evaluation Unit (FEU) or International Upgrade (IU) teams at Gaydon and Fen End. Both teams support the end-to-end vehicle launch lifecycle from early prototype vehicle preparation to updating and preparing the units for external sale post-completion.
You could find yourself in anything from pre-delivery inspections to deconstructs and rebuilds for second-hand sale, spanning engine changes, chassis updates, trim changes and full vehicle software downloads as well as vehicle inspections to MOT standard.
The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship – Manufacturing is a four-year programme, delivered to Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE) standards. This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role, including business behaviours such as team working and problem-solving.
In particular, you will learn how to work safely and make a technical contribution to the development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or repair and maintenance of our products or equipment.
Your pathway will depend upon the area of the business in which you will be based. You will be asked for your preference on business area ahead of attending an assessment with us.
In your first year, your time will be spent studying at our education provider and working at a Jaguar Land Rover plant alongside members of our skilled teams. In the subsequent years you will be predominantly working in the plant, and you’ll continue your studies leading up to your End Point Assessment (EPA). Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have the constant guidance and support from both the business and the training provider
