What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be part of the "Connectivity & Network Peripherals" department, which is responsible for network and network security, including 2nd and 3rd level. The spectrum includes not only operation, maintenance and support, but also design, implementation and further development of the infrastructure on a project basis for the entire Group.

 

Some further responsibilities include:

  • Operation, monitoring and administration of heterogeneous network infrastructure.
  • 2nd level support incl. incident ticket and change request processing.
  • Provide support & remediation of technical issues.
  • Execution of workflow steps within change control process.
  • Caretaker for general customer inquiries.
  • Proactively monitor and review of security logs.
  • Creation of reports and controlling KPIs / SLAs.
  • Creation of knowledgebase articles for the 1st level knowledge transfer.
  • Operation and administration of network and enterprise security infrastructures.
  • Supporting domestic and abroad IT-infrastructure projects (network, security).
  • Support 3rd party connections.

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

All Apprentices are inducted into the organisation together to enable a positive initial network to be formed.  They are also buddied with a previous Apprentice to support them with their introduction to the company. 

There is a structured internal development pathway that all Apprentices will work through together to build their awareness of our business and some of the key skills and behaviours will be covered in these such as networking, communication, feedback and presenting. Employability skills sessions will also be provided towards the end of the Apprenticeship to support Apprentices into further employment.

All Apprentices follow the paths laid out by our Apprenticeship Training Providers and include a mix of online self-development, webinars, workshops and assignments.

Specific qualifications will be dependent on the individual Apprenticeship Standard for each role. 

The training will be block release for this role. The candidate will achieve a Level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The apprentice will join on a 2 year FTC, however, there is the opportunity to secure a permanent role following completion of the apprenticeship.
