What will the apprentice be doing?
- Tracking and chasing shipments
- Liaison with suppliers and customers to ensure that jobs are delivered, paperwork received, and information is being supplied - providing a high standard of customer service
- Booking shipments courier/road and eventually sea and air
- Learning other aspects of air/road/sea and courier services
- Organising special documentation and customs paperwork
Managing Database:
- Updating the in-house database and customer relationship management (CRM) system
- Adding new quotes, jobs, leads, customers, suppliers etc. to the CRM on request, update the CRM with information on all the jobs as instructed
Administration:
- Ensuring all information is on files CRM, for jobs to be invoiced and where appropriate files are marked up every day
- Providing day to day admin support to members of staff liaising with non freight suppliers regarding stationary, the premises, and other outsourced suppliers
- Answering the telephone, taking messages, and dealing with basic queries from customers and suppliers
- Pick and packing and checking items received into the warehouse
Learning:
- On the jobs training to achieve the above tasks
- Plus, additional training in the area of freight and logistics to ensure that knowledge in the area is developed in order to enhance the role of the individual

- Face to face and online learning at employer premises
- Off the job training
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Promotion to International Freight Forwarder on completion of apprenticeship, and pay increase above the national living wage
