What will the apprentice be doing?

You’ll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor.

Working alongside our water network team, you’ll will be:

  • Ensuring we identify and reduce water leakage across our distribution network
  • In your daily work, you’ll interact with distribution service technicians and our repair and maintenance technicians
  • You will also work with our call centres, network optimisation and contractors
  • You’ll regularly engage with customers and members of the public which will help you to build your stakeholder relationship management skills

What you will learn:

  • You will learn how to identify potential leakage, using data, tools and techniques
  • Give advice to customers on water fittings and repair and maintain meters and loggers
  • You will also learn how to identify water network issues, apply fault-finding and problem-solving techniques, and identify root causes in some of our equipment to resolve faults
  • We will teach you how to calibrate equipment such as temporary loggers and pressure gauges to the appropriate standard.
  • You will learn how to operate our water network safely and protect our environment

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Within our water network team you will complete the Level 3 Water Industry Network Technician Apprenticeship standard,  allowing you to develop the skills & experience required to become an expert within our water network team
  • You’ll combine on-the-job learning with formal, nationally recognised development training
  • A Personal Development Plan will help drive your career progression, set, agreed & regularly reviewed with your line manager
