As an Applied Professional Engineering degree apprentice, you will become a multi-disciplinary engineer, developing digital technology solutions for modern luxury vehicles that are renowned for their desirability and performance.
Working efficiently, our goal is to create high-quality, desirable, and technologically advanced products that will shape the future of mobility. You will be working on features and products available to customers in the next 10 years right through to current vehicles.
As an apprentice in the Product Design & Development pathway, you could be based within any of the following Product Engineering functional areas: Engineering Body Chassis (EBC), Engineering Vehicle (EV), Engineering Powertrain (EP), Engineering Operations (EO). You could also be based within Product Integrity (PI), Engineering Quality (EQ),Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) or Stamping Group. You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process. See website for more details.
Depending on the area tasks can include:
- Work closely with the design studio to translate award-winning designs into engineering reality, taking into account performance, manufacturability, sustainability, cost and weight
- You will learn the tools, engineering methodologies and techniques to create and optimise cutting-edge solutions
- Comprehensive training to become a zone integration engineer and will work on live projects spanning elegant engineering, vehicle efficiency, driver and passenger safety, usability, software solutions, driving characteristics and sustainability
- Gain expertise in competitor benchmarking, computer modelling and software whilst working on innovative technologies including electrified propulsion systems, thermal systems and future propulsion solutions
- You could find yourself focusing on prototyping and tooling to expand our design capability, developing into a Test Engineer at our Engine Manufacturing Centre
- You will rapidly develop in-demand skills whilst acting as the interface between core engineering teams and manufacturing
- Alongside Senior Engineers, you will work on ‘critical concern investigations’ to resolve issues and create our world-class products
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will study for a BEng in Applied Professional Engineering with the University of Warwick (WMG).
