What will the apprentice be doing?

  • General administration duties including telephone calls with customers, contractors and colleagues
  • Raising work orders, reviewing order variations, completions, cancellations and payment reconciliations
  • Scheduling customer and contractor appointments, no access escalations and responding to appointment queries
  • Providing support to the management of maintenance contracts including liaising with other departments and contractors when required
  • Gathering and collating asset data
  • Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post

About the employer

The Building Safety Team at Gateshead Council as originally set up in 2019 as a co-located team of Council and Gateshead Housing Company staff. The initial remit was to recover health and safety compliance in domestic buildings following a Regulator of Social Housing notice. Subsequently the team has expanded to set out the delivery framework for operational teams to follow in respect of building safety and compliance, and to have oversight and scrutiny of that delivery; and also to evidence compliance, develop processes and evolve IT systems in relation to delivering and evidencing compliance. The team are now responsible for the Council full property portfolio.
