What will the apprentice be doing?
Internal combustion engines have dominated automotive propulsion since cars were introduced, but we are reimagining the future. While continuing to refine the quality of our combustion engines, we are expanding into electrification, catering to the demands of today and the future. As an Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will become a multi-disciplinary engineer, developing digital technology solutions for modern luxury vehicles that are renowned for their desirability and performance.

Manufacturing is at the very heart of Jaguar Land Rover, with thousands of vehicles being produced every day across our production facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing. This apprenticeship is for people with a passion for learning and a pioneering mindset: ambitious, innovative and determined individuals who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow. With a blend of hands-on experience and qualifications to target, you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success. As an apprentice in the Manufacturing pathway, you could be based within any of the following functions: Engineering Operations (EO), Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) or Purchasing – Supplier Technical Assistance (STA).
Depending on the area tasks can include:
• Operating alongside experienced colleagues, you will develop skills and experience in a range of areas including Electric Driving Units (EDUs) and battery technology
• you will gain expertise in people management, KPI visualisation and much more, enabling you to become a rounded and capable engineer
• help us explore the application of new technologies that will enhance performance, capability and luxury personalisation
• you will develop deep understanding of Agile manufacturing methodologies and all aspects of component engineering
• involvement in anything from dealing with supplier queries to developing innovative supplier processes for new product.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will study for a BEng in Applied Professional Engineering with the University of Warwick (WMG).
Over the first three years of your Apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as an engineering professional. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice to support you in performing at your best.
These modules are taught throughout the academic year in blocks by WMG, a key part of the University. You will benefit from a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online, and will enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.
In your final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship – and will be ready for an amazing career with Jaguar Land Rover.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completion of the EPA candidates will be offer a permanent position with Jaguar Land Rover.
