What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will:
- Learn and develop mechanical and electrical trade skills
- Be part of a culture of personal development, engineering betterment and continuous improvement
- Learn and utilise troubleshooting root cause analysis tools and techniques to resolve challenges
- Support completion of planned work and preventative maintenance
- Actively engage in the engineering departments support of operations in all aspects of safety, quality, cost, delivery and engagement
- Learn to execute all activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety mangement team requirements and best working practices
- Be a valued member of the engineering team and wider business throughout Molnlycke
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Apprentices will spend up to 42 months completing training before entering their End-point Assessment (EPA). A dedicated Training Advisor (Assessor) will support the apprentice through the training period. Within the first 12 months, they will complete up to 3 NVQ2 'Performing Engineering Operations' units. They will then use NVQ3 units as a guide to develop and demonstrate the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for the showcase portfolio of evidence for their EPA. In addition, they will work towards a Level 3 Technical Certificate to further build their knowledge.
The NVQ2 units and L3 Technical Certificate are completed within our well-equipped Training Centre on a day-release basis and the level 3 skills/behaviours are developed within the workplace (supported by a mentor/supervisor).
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
To become an established member of the engineering team with possible progression onto Lead Engineer/Technician.
