1st Year of the apprenticeship is at Appris in Bradford. You will be there from 8.30am - 4.30pm/5pm Monday to Friday. From the 2nd year onwards, you will be working from 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday

What will the apprentice be doing?
As a Technician in the Laboratory Operations function, you will be wokring towards responsibilities for the following duties:
- Carrying out standard and non-standard turbocharger tests.
- Working closely with engineers to determine best options/testing approach.
- Setting up turbochargers in test cells and on engines to perform turbocharger functional tests.
- Setting-up on test engines.
- Writing complex test programmes.
- Producing test data and assessing for quality prior to handing over to engineering.
- Building prototype turbochargers.
- Machining non-standard prototype parts.
- Carrying out detailed disassembly and inspection of tested components.
- Carrying out routine test cell and engine bed maintenance.
- Engaging in and complying with HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard.
Year 1 - 5 Days a week at Appris Training Centre, Bradford, studying:
- BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence - Mechanical).
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge - Mechanical).
Year 2 & 3 - 1 Day a week at Appris Training Centre, Bradford, studying:
- BTEC Level 4 HNC in Engineeirng (this is not mandatory and dependant on the outcomes of year one performance).
Year 2 to Year 4 - Workplace qualification:
- EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.
Internal training, development and mentoring with highly skilled engineers in a variety of project and support based areas and other engineering related duties and requirements.
In your 4th Year, you will continue to work towards your occupational competency in engineering and prepare for independent end-point assessments.
