What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprenticeship will be based at one of our sites in Plymouth. During your apprenticeship you will study a Level 3 Marine Engineering Standard. The main skills that will be learnt are:

  • Diagnostic testing of engines and mechanical equipment
  • Installation of engines
  • Installation of ancillary equipment
  • Removal of yacht and boat electrical equipment
  • Servicing and repairing marine engines
  • Routine servicing of marine equipment

  • On and off the water activities such as residential trips

  • Training will be over 4 years, 1st year will be 4 days per week in college, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year 1 day a week in college and 3 days in the workplace
