What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprenticeship will be based at one of our sites in Plymouth. During your apprenticeship you will study a Level 3 Boatbuilding Standard. The main skills that will be learnt are:
- Statutory regulations and safety requirements
- Using and interpreting data and documentation
- Yacht and boatbuilding assembly and pre assembly
- Principles of boatbuilding technology
- Composite manufacture for marine construction
- Production of external boat components
- Business improvement techniques

- Completion of RYA Powerboat Level 2, RYA marine short radio short range certificate, RYA sea survival or First Aid
- On and off the water activities such as residential trips

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Boatbuilder Apprenticeship Qualification, this will be at South Devon College. The training will be over 4 years, 1st year will be 4 days per week in college, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year 1 day a week in college and 3 days in the workplace.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Qualified Boat Builder.
