What will the apprentice be doing?
Answering the phone in a professional manner
Sweeping up and sharing cleaning of salon with team
Making drinks for our customers
Learning to operate the booking system (fresha)
Receptionist duties including making appointments, relaying messages, checking customers out and handling money
Washing hair, rinsing colours, applying toners, combing out hair
Observing stylists to improve practical hairdressing skills
Practising techniques on mannequins
Blow drying friends and family with supervision and guidance
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Apprentices attend York College one day per week, and work for their employer the rest of the time. The apprenticeship takes two years to complete.
You will build up a portfolio of evidence of your work that demonstrates your skills and ability, such as a work diary, photos, statements from your employer and colleagues and examples of completed tasks. As part of the theory input you will carry out an online test for each unit. You will be required to pass an End-Point Assessment (EPA) which consists of practical observations and oral questions and will be graded by an external examiner.
The qualification achieved will be Level 2 Hair Professional Apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Once fully qualified, there may be an opportunity for employment at the salon.
