What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be responsible for general warehouse duties such as:

  • Completing stock sheets and tally sheets
  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Order picking and processing of timber related goods
  • Checking and sorting incoming goods
  • Understanding all areas of ordering and assembly, from customer orders to goods in
  • Also, complying with company procedures and Health and Safety requirements

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

In-Comm Training Services will provide training towards your Warehouse Apprenticeship. Supply chain warehouse operative (Level 2). This will consist of:

  • Level 2 in Warehouse and Storage Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and maths, if required
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Workbook
  • Employers' Rights and Responsibilities Workbook
  • Block training will take place at In-Comm Training Services Ltd WS9 8UG

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Permanent position - order picker and assembly role.

Things to consider

Block training will take place at In-Comm Training Services Ltd WS9 8UG. Please ensure you are happy to travel there. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training, that forms part of their apprenticeship.

About the employer

Based in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, Carvers was established over 110 years ago as a builder's merchant. Carvers operate from two 10-acre sites, the Littles Lane site has their full stock range and is conveniently situated next to Wolverhampton’s ring road. The Neachells Lane site is a specialist timber production unit and not open to the public. Owning and operating all their delivery lorries, Carvers has a range to suit access restrictions and product requirements. Carvers employ over 200 staff, the vast majority of whom live within 10 miles of their depot. Still owned by the same family they continue to trade as builder's merchants but have also expanded into timber merchanting and bottled gas distribution. In addition, Carvers has established a tool hire centre where builders can get everything they need for their job. The builders merchant business now includes specialist bathroom and kitchen departments which not only sell kitchens and bathrooms but will also plan and fit them. They also boast one of the finest specialist range cooker showrooms in the country.
