Cultural Participation Officer Apprentice Oxfordshire County Council

The participation teamwork with children in care and those leaving care to improve services and outcomes for children and young people. As a cultural participation apprentice, you will work with a variety of people as you begin to understand more about this vital work and you learn and help carry out engagement and participation activities. Duties include planning, organising and co-ordinating artistic and cultural education community engagement projects.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The main aspects of the role will be to:

  • Develop skills to empower and enable children in care, and those leaving care, to communicate with OCC and partner agencies in order to improve services
  • Learn how to plan and deliver a range of activities, workshops, surveys and information to encourage children to express their views and opinions freely and confidently
  • Assist with the planning and delivering of a range of activities and events to celebrate successes and achievements of those in care and leaving care

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will achieve a Level 3 apprenticeship
  • Training will all be delivered within the workplace
  • Apprentices without a level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

If on completion of the apprenticeship, a role is available you may be able to progress as a cultural participation officer.  There are also lots of other care related jobs within the council.
