What will the apprentice be doing?

First year apprentices are seconded to SETA, once in the business at Aquila’s main office they will have the opportunity to work in various departments within the business, including the workshop.

Development is achieved by virtue of on the job training, mandatory training and formal relevant training/courses.

Our engineers will be trained to:

  • Understand and dissect Client’s specifications
  • Develop innovative solutions to fulfil our client’s specification
  • Design & operate highly complex pieces of kit
  • Produce technical drawings and documents
  • Attend & support design reviews
  • Liaise with customers & clients
  • Assist with the full design life cycle of projects

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard programme. This will include a full-time period of practical workshop based ‘off-the-job’ training at SETA’s Apprenticeship Centre in Southampton.

You will also begin a technical certificate (depending on your prior attainments) where you will be required to attend SETA one day a week over two academic years. After your initial training at SETA, you will be with your employer working on developing your skills for your End Point Assessment.
