What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Observe and comply with all policies and procedures including health and safety at work
  • Attend all training courses
  • Complete tasks in the workshop and take responsibility for being involved in its day to day running
  • Carry basic mechanical engineering tasks such as: drilling, tapping, grinding, welding, fabrication
  • Adopt a continuous improvement attitude in developing work throughout
  • Use of IT tools as part of the Business Management System
  • Training and utilising of internal housekeeping standards

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship is typically a 42 month programme. The first ten months is spent in the Training Centre following various aspects of Engineering Skills to Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) followed by Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) in the employer’s premises
  • The Technical Certificate aspect of the programme is a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
